The CEO of the Mediaset group has recognized the commitment of the staff during the pandemic “without saving efforts, without hesitation, without asking for more.”

Paolo Vasile at the Mediaset Shareholders' Meeting 2020

During his speech at the General Meeting of Shareholders of Mediaset Spain, held electronically this Wednesday, June 10, the group's CEO, Paolo Vasile, has highlighted the special conditions in which this has taken place, given the radical change in life that we have suffered as a society due to the pandemic caused by COVID 19.

In his presentation to the shareholders, who were able to follow his intervention electronically, has valued the television service, considered essential during these critical months, and the development of the activity in these adverse conditions of fear, risk and uncertainty, sending a message of gratitude to the employees: "today everything seems different, but what has surely not changed is the spirit that animates the people of Mediaset España: the desire to do their job well, the spirit of belonging, the spirit of sacrifice, the love for television and the love for this company that, not only have not faltered even in the hardest moments, but have also found a way to exalt them in a race of solidarity and efficiency between all the sectors that make up our company.”

“Technical and production staff, journalists and administrative staff, digital and television area, artists and communication managers, human resources and the health service, legal advice and advertising marketing staff, those responsible for programming, marketing, broadcasting, also studios, various technologies, sports, cinema, content sales, editorial marketing: all the men and women of Mediaset España have given everything, in psychologically and sentimentally often dramatic conditions, without saving efforts, without doubting, without asking for more. “This is our great strength, this is Mediaset España,” he stressed.

"In a few weeks our normality, of which we were not at all happy and which now seems like something wonderful, has been shattered. Our habits have changed, our certainties have been lost and our conquests have faded. While strengthened by our arrogant arrogance, we looked into the stratosphere thinking about how to change the destinies and whims of nature, the oldest calamity in the world has arrived: an epidemic. Very fast and ferocious it has carried death and has taken over our lives radically changing it. Along with fear, sadness and despair, 'pietas' and heroism have emerged with disruptive force. An anonymous and multitudinous heroism, a unanimous and hurt solidarity. In these weeks we set out to inform our viewers about what was happening and at the same time convey to the new heroes the immense gratitude, admiration and affection of all Spaniards. no one will forget, I think no one will return to normal“, he pointed out.

Furthermore, he wanted to highlight that “this tragedy has taken away so much affection and so many hopes and now we have to do everything to be reborn stronger, better; We must start again, but not from where we were but from a new world, wounded, but full of desire to begin again. My father said 'we were happy and we didn't know it'. I hope, with all my heart, that when we return to being happy again we will also be able to realize it.”

“We must not forget, however, that 2019 has been a very important year for Mediaset España: a year of strong consolidation of the multiplatform audiovisual project that, started years ago with humility and discretion, has entered into all its activity with great success. Television and Internet, information and entertainment, reflection and entertainment, cinema and fiction, sport and fashion, have come together like the various channels and the various platforms that Mediaset España has been able to build. This work of integration and interaction has allowed us to offer everyone, viewers and Internet users, a cocktail of emotion that is always fresh, perfumed, and restorative. Yes, restorative, because our vocation has always been to keep people company, inform them, but also distract them, entertain them, console them.”

And he concluded by stating that "unfortunately, this commitment of ours, this promise, has found its maximum expression and acceptance in the dramatic period we are living in. And I emphasize unfortunately: the great success of our companionship offer has, today, a bitter taste, mitigated only by the awareness of having tried by all means to alleviate the sadness, anguish and uncertainty of these dark days."
