The call is intended for both feature film and TV series projects. The winning project will be part of the La Liga in Focus space at Annecy 2020.

The Ibero-American Animation League

The Ibero-American Animation League, in collaboration with the Annecy Festival, has opened a special call to which Spanish, Portuguese and Andorran animation projects, both feature films and TV series, that are in the development stage or in pre-production may apply. Co-productions that have a partner from one of these countries may also participate.

From among the projects presented, representatives of the Ibero-American Animation League will choose a selection of up to five finalist projects. These projects will be announced on February 20, 2020.

Los Quirino Awards for Ibero-American Animation along with Animation! Ventana Sur (Argentina) and the Festival Pixelatl (Mexico) joined together to give rise to the Ibero-American Animation League. This alliance responds to the objective shared by the three events of promoting the creation and development of audiovisual projects in the region, strengthening collaborative ties between Latin American countries.

In April, during Coproduction Forum of the 2020 Quirino Ibero-American Animation Awards, the finalist projects will be presented by their directors or producers before a jury in a closed pitch session. In addition, they will be able to participate in the B2B meetings and work tables of the Co-production and Business Forum with free accreditation as finalists.

Once the pitch has been made, the jury made up of members of the Ibero-American Animation League and representatives of MIFA Annecy, will choose a winning project that will be part of The League in Focus, a special program of La Liga in Annecy 2020.

The Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market MIFA will grant the winning project of the special La Liga call, a prize accreditation that will provide access to all market events (MIFA Pass). In the case of projects with more than one representative in MIFA, additional accreditations will be the responsibility of each production company.

The deadline for sending materials opens on January 9, 2020, and will close on January 30, 2020.

In addition to the winning project of this special call at La Liga in Focus Annecy, the winners of Animation! South Window: the series First de Typpo Creative Lab & Pájaro (Chile) y Someone by Mono Animation (Brazil) and the feature films The kingdom of birds de Lupa Filmes & Amoria Studio (Brasil) y Coda by JPZtudio (Argentina) and Zumbástica Studios (Chile).
