The main film festivals in the world stand up to COVID-19 with the help of YouTube
The 'We Are One' initiative aims to become a great online film festival in which the big events on the calendar such as San Sebastián, Cannes, Venice and Berlin will participate.
Filmmakers who cannot premiere their productions at film festivals such as San Sebastian, Cannes, Venice or Berlin due to cancellations due to the coronavirus could see streaming as their best ally.
Tribeca Enterprises and YouTube have launched the initiative We Are One: A Global Film Festival, a ten-day event that brings together a window of the most recognized film festivals worldwide.
From May 29 to June 7, moviegoers from all over the world will be able to enjoy international films (short and feature films, documentaries, music, comedy...) completely free, presented exclusively on YouTube.
The exhibition will include selections to festivals such as Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), San Sebastián International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, among others.
At the core of film festivals' DNA is the belief that artists and creators have the power to bring people together and create meaningful connections during a time when the world needs it most. Through We Are One: A Global Film Festival, audiences will not only be able to take a look at different cultures through a new lens, but they will also be able to support local communities by donating directly to organizations assisting in relief efforts for those affected by COVID-19.
The funds raised at this event will go to the World Health Organization (WHO) and local aid organizations in different regions of the world.
