Filmax opens with ‘[REC]’ its second 4DX theater

The premiere will coincide with the inauguration of the second theater with 4DX technology, with 21 synchronized effects at the Filmax Gran Via Cinemas, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).

Next July 9th Filmax Gran Via Cinemas will inaugurate their second 4DX room with the world premiere of [REC] adapted to this technology that allows you to experience cinema in a totally immersive way. The opening ceremony will be chaired by the filmmaker Jaume Balagueró.

[REC], directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, is one of the films most appreciated by lovers of the genre and a milestone for national horror cinema. Its premiere in 2007 became an immediate success with the public and critics, received numerous awards and enabled the birth of a franchise with three sequels and an American remake.

With this expansion, the Filmax Granvia Cinemas become the only cinemas in Europe that have two 4DX rooms and a room for The ScreenX Triple Screen. The complex also has 9 conventional movie theaters.

The first 4DX theater opened in November 2018 and has since enjoyed great success among audiences looking for new forms of cinematic entertainment. This technology incorporates in the projection up to a total of 21 synchronized effects. Thanks to it, the viewer has the opportunity to see the main premieres with effects of movement, air, water, heat, aromas, vibrations, as well as meteorological elements such as fog, wind, lightning and bubbles.

As for the Triple Screen, ScreenX is the first theater in Catalonia that extends the traditional movie screen to the side walls of the auditorium, creating a 270-degree viewing experience. In this way it allows the audience to go beyond the frame of the traditional film screen, using a system that expands the image of the central screen towards the side walls, enveloping the viewer with images and providing the feeling of being inside the film.

The South Korean company CJ has been responsible for the installation and operation of the three rooms.
