The Bahia International Animation Festival (FIAB) awards the Spanish shorts 'Mercury Corp.' and 'Carne'
Produced by ESDIP Animation Studio, recently awarded a Goya Award, 'Mercury Corp' makes a social critique. For its part, 'Carne' triumphed at Weird Market and 3D Wire Fest 2020.
The Jury of Bahia International Animation Festival (FIAB) has recognized Mercury Corp. with the award for Best Animation in its first edition "for a technology that everyone can have access to, without their humanities becoming disposable, but above all, for reflecting that the future is a space of coexistence and respect for all beings and all lives."
Directed by Jesus Garcia Guijarro, Mercury Corp. It premiered online on April 8 before almost 200 people. This 2D animated short takes you on a space mission with Karen, an adventurer who, through a game of colors and music, faces fantastic beings and unidentified dangers until she completes her mission “satisfactorily” but… what is that mission really? The end of Mercury criticizes a situation that thousands of people face every day...
Mercury Corp. is produced by ESDIP Animation Studio, producer of ESDIP Escuela de Arte, recently awarded the Goya Award for Best Animated Short for Blue & Malone. Casos Imposibles.
Carne
On the other hand, the festival has recognized with the award for best direction to Camila Kater for his work in Carne, a co-production of the Galician Abano Productions and the Brazilian Doctela.
After triumphing in competitions such as Weird Market and 3D Wire Fest 2020, Locarno, Annecy or Málaga, the Bahia Festival jury has awarded Carne “for the development of the theme, for the proposal of connecting the body, space and life experiences.”
Finally, note that the award for best feature film has gone to Argentina Migrant, directed by Ezequiel Dalinger and Daniel Iezzi.
