Vitec Group adquiere Quasar Science

The Los Angeles-based provider of LED lighting solutions for the film industry will join the production solutions division of the Vitec group.

Vitec Group has acquired Quasar Science, provider of linear and tubular LED lighting technology for cinema applications. The business will become part of the group's Production Solutions Division along with Litepanels, acquired by Vitec in 2008.

Quasar Science products are used in large-scale professional film and television production, as well as small-scale new media markets. Popular among professional cinematographers, videographers and photographers, the brand has grown rapidly thanks to its affordability, superior quality and design, as well as renowned customer service.

Nicola Dal Toso, CEO of Vitec Production Solutions, notes that "Quasar Science products are highly complementary to our Litepanels brand. There are growth opportunities to sell Quasar Science products through our global sales and distribution network, and to use their experience and network to grow our Litepanels business in the cinema market. Quasar Science will also benefit from Vitec's marketing, manufacturing and supply chain capabilities."

Founded in 2012 by four partners with extensive experience as studio lighting technicians, Quasar Science is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, where the majority of its 18 employees are located. Co-founders Steven Strong, Evans Brown, Jay Yowler and Ray Gonzales will remain with the company and continue to lead the team following the acquisition.
