La Casa de Papel Netflix Secuoya Studios

More than 1,500 professionals will work on the original productions of Netflix from the company's production center in Tres Cantos (Madrid), a Secuoya Studios.

The headquarters, inaugurated two years ago, will double its number of sets (which go from five to ten) and will incorporate new post-production facilities so creators and producers can bring their best stories to life.

Furthermore, the production center of Netflix It will have, among other innovations, a state-of-the-art filming laboratory and editing rooms unique in Spain that will combine the latest technologies and encourage collaboration between professionals. The expansion is scheduled to be completed before the end of 2022.

Firm bet on Spain

Diego Avalos, Vice President of Content at Netflix in Spain, stated: "We are very proud to continue demonstrating our commitment to Spanish fiction. With this expansion, we will make the latest advances available to creators so that they can continue telling great stories. From Netflix, we will continue working to comprehensively promote the sustainable development of Spanish audiovisual production, in all its diversity."

Since its arrival, Netflix has released more than 50 titles events in Spain that generated more than 7,500 jobs for both cast and technical crews, in addition to 41,000 days of work for extras in productions throughout the country. In those underway this year (in different stages of production), production companies are expected to hire more than 1,500 professionals, and generate more than 21,000 days of work for extras.

This production center in Madrid is located in the Madrid Content City of Tres Cantos, promoted by the real estate group Roots, con Raúl Berdones (Sequoya Group) in front. This initiative is determined to place Madrid as an absolute reference in European production. Soon, the complex will be expanded with new studios, complementary facilities and a private university center managed by Planeta Group.

At the same time, Netflix also continues to work in other regions such as Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Galicia and Navarra.

New formats

In its commitment to the diversity of stories and formats, Netflix has recently revealed new productions that will be created in Spain. The company will bring to the screen three literary works written by Spanish authors: A perfect story, by Elísabet Benavent, a novel that questions self-demand as a synonym for happiness; The snow girl, by Javier Castillo, the great phenomenon of suspense literature; and daughter of the road, by Lucía-Asué Mbomío, a groundbreaking debut feature about identity, family ties and the fight against racism.
