Poet in New York

One hundred years after Federico García Lorca traveled to New York, Buendía Studios y Galdo Media They will produce a series of six 50' chapters that will tour the city that marked the most universal collection of poems from Granada.

Starting from an original idea of Eduardo Galdo, the series Lorca in New York will pay tribute to the poet's genius through the eyes of Elena, a young woman who, one hundred years later, is also looking for her space in the big city.

Elena is a young doctorate from Granada, who travels to New York for the first time to complete her studies on Federico García Lorca at Columbia University, where the poet spent several months of his life. The arrival is not easy. The adaptation to the gigantic city is combined with nostalgia for what he has left in Spain and the difficulty of facing an unknown part of the poet's life that is cryptic and inaccessible. Until he discovers the letters that Lorca wrote to his family.

Through these two parallel lives, we will discover Elena's current New York and the one in 1929 in which Federico immersed himself, and that despite being separated by almost a hundred years, they share the magic and suffocation that today define the great cities of the world.

New York as a common thread

Lorca in New York seeks to pay tribute to a genius like García Lorca, through the eyes of a young woman looking for her space in the big city, while we discover the chiaroscuros of the parties and the artistic intricacies of jazz and literature, which defined the fascinating New York of the 1920s.

The city plays as a common thread between Elena and Federico, as they both share that same space and that same sensitivity towards the environment that surrounds them, as if what Lorca wrote were a prophecy that took shape in the young woman's life.

When Lorca arrived in New York in 1929, he was both fascinated and horrified by what would be defined as the construction of the World City. Lorca glimpses the future, how the city is going to engulf human beings both from joy and vertigo, to the point of becoming the fundamental key to his collection of poems.
