Camilo Sesto revives with 'Camilo Superstar', a series from Atresmedia and Buendía Estudios
Camilo Superstar, the new original series of ATRESplayer Premium produced by Atresmedia Television in collaboration with Buendía Studios, will recount one of the key moments in the life of Camilo Sesto over four episodes.
The fiction of Atresmedia will recount the singer's adventure when he wanted to make history by bringing to our country the risky and controversial musical internationally successful Jesus Christ Superstar. Alejandro Jato will put himself in the shoes of a passionate 26 year old singer who will assume “all risks” to bring to Spain the largest musical show that has been organized to date. The fiction will include moments, not only of the rehearsals, casting and premiere, but also fragments of his most emblematic performances of the time and the compositions that the artist created at that time.
Camilo Superstar, emphasizes Atresmedia, delves into the “soul of the artist”, exploring what led him to risk his assets and his career in such a complicated context and to renounce it, in full success, with a definitive gesture, shaving his beard for an advertisement and donating the amount to an orphanage. “A journey in which everyone involved leaves too much behind, but manages to break new ground and make history in a backward country that awakens to modernity,” says the media group.
Montse García, Sonia Martínez and Curro Novallas are the executive producers of the series, which has Tatiana Rodríguez in charge of the script and himself Job Novallas next to Federico Untermann as directors of the first and second units, respectively. Ana Rocha directs production, Jon Aguirresarobe is the director of Photography and César Macarrón heads the Art department. The technical team also includes Coque F. Lahera as head of Sound, Nazareth Colomina as costume designer and Paty López as head of Makeup and Hairstyling.
The main cast of the series is completed by Adrián Lastra, Natalia Reyes, Pepe Ocio, Javier Godino, Vito Sanz, Oscar de la Fuente and the special collaboration of Eugenia Silva and Elena Rivera.
