VAR in CONCACAF

The group Mediapro has been selected by the Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean Football (CONCACAF) as a supplier company for the implementation of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology for its competitions.

The first match to have this technology was the first leg of the Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals between Atlanta United FC and Philadelphia Union, held in the American city of Atlanta.

VAR in CONCACAFVAR will be used in all quarter-final, semi-final and final matches throughout the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (SCCL). Regarding national team competitions, VAR has been implemented in the final of the CONCACAF Nations League, held in Denver, Colorado.

Currently, Mediapro is preparing the implementation of VAR in the Gold Cup 2021 which will be held in the United States in July and is classified as the most important national team competition in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Mediapro provides VAR technology in numerous official competitions such as the leagues of Portugal, Greece, Mexico, Chile and the United Arab Emirates, and is responsible for the video refereeing service of some of the most important continental competitions in the world, both at the club and national team level, such as the Copa Libertadores, the Copa Sudamericana, the Copa América or the African Cup.
