AMP Visual TV chooses the compact Sony XVS-G1 mixer for its mobile units
The French producer AMP Visual TV has opted for the XVS-G1 mixer from Sony, launched in spring of last year and designed to meet live production needs, to boost its offer of mobile production units throughout France.
Very flexible in terms of production, it offers large capacities in both HD and UHD. Its hybrid structure combines a central processing unit (CPU) with a graphics processing unit (GPU) and a field-programmable logic gate array (FGPA). This combination offers maximum performance and reliability without affecting processing or experiencing latency, but maintaining great capacity in HD and UHD formats.
Francois Valadoux, technical director of AMP Visual TV, comments that "Sony switchers have long been a part of our operations due to their reliability and scalability. When we were considering upgrading our lighting usage to meet the growing demand for compact and remote productions, the new XVS-G1 was the obvious choice, as it suited our existing fleet and is a versatile and future-proof system thanks to its UHD capability."
Norbert Paquet, Head of Live Production Solutions at Sony Solutions Europe, adds: "We've been working with AMP Visual TV for many years and have always been interested in seeing where their development projects are going. Switchers, regardless of their form, remain at the heart of any production, especially in live environments. They need to be familiar to operators and innovative to introduce new ways of working and take advantage of the latest technologies. And that's basically what our XVS-G1 offers."
