3H Sound Studio renews its facilities with new Fairlight consoles (Blackmagic)
Various Fairlight control surfaces Blackmagic Design, from which DaVinci Resolve will be operated, join the facilities of audio post-production company 3H Sound Studio.
Founded by sound designer Tu Duu-Chih in 2004, 3H Sound Studio specializes in services such as on-location audio recording, automatic dialogue replacement (ADR), and post-production in Dolby Atmos. He has received various international awards, such as the award from the Higher Technical Commission at the 54th Film Festival of Cannes, nine nominations and an award for best sound design at the Kiss, Hong Kong Awards, and 35 nominations and 12 statuettes for the best sound effects in the Festival of Taipei Film Golden Horse Awards.
Duu-Chih has been instrumental in the technical development of sound for Taiwan's film industry. He has collaborated on masterpieces by important filmmakers, such as In Our Time, directed by Edward Yang, Yi Chang, Ko I-Chen and Tao Te-Chen, which is recognized as the foundation of modern Taiwanese cinema, and The Terrorizer, directed by Edward Yang. Additionally, he specialized in outdoor sound synchronization by working with famous directors, including Hou Hsiao-Hsien in sorrowful city and Edward Yang again in A Brighter Summer. 3H Sound Studio has also partnered with prestigious sound studios globally, e.g. Nikkatsu Recording Studio, AtLab, Sound Firm y Ramindra in projects in Dolby Atmos format.
Duu-Chih, who began his career in sound design when analog audio processing dominated the film industry, opted for an all-digital workflow when choosing devices Fairlight in 1997. Today, 3H Sound Studio Ltd. has ten mixing rooms with different digital audio stations, which include consoles Fairlight two and five modules with the program DaVinci Resolve Studio and seven systems Fairlight.

In the main mixing room, Duu-Chih has a console Fairlight advanced five modules along with DaVinci Resolve Studio to carry out Dolby Atmos projects, which has been used in dozens of films, such as A Sun, from director Chung Mong-Hong; Love After Love, from director Ann Hui; Ripples of Life, de Wei Shujun, y Anita, the Longman Leung.
Duu-Chih is delighted to now begin a phase of renewal of several of its Fairlight solutions for the most advanced models, which benefit from all the features of DaVinci Resolve Studio: “DaVinci Resolve Studio has not only inherited from Fairlight the characteristic of being fast, reliable and intuitive, but also offers a wide variety of features, such as better performance, the possibility of exporting in different formats, immersive audio, efficient and easy-to-use automatic dialogue replacement, 2000 tracks with real-time effects, optimization of loudness indicators, free software updates, and more sophisticated and more responsive physical consoles.”
