Premio ETSIT - RTVE 2022

The Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineers (ETSIT) of the UPM has presented its ETSIT Award to Spanish Radio Television (RTVE) in recognition of his tireless search for the latest technology in audiovisuals.

He Premio ETSIT represents recognition of the Corporation's commitment to technological vanguard and educational and institutional collaboration that develop through RTVE Chair in the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The award was presented within the framework of an ETSIT tribute to retired staff and graduates and students with the best academic record, under the presidency of the rector of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), Guillermo Cisneros. He collected the award Urbano Garcia, Director of Innovation and Digital at RTVE.

The “decided commitment to be at the forefront of new technologies in the audiovisual field” was the first reason that the jury indicated for awarding the 2022 ETSIT Award to RTVE. The proposal for granting the award, unanimously approved by the School Board, also refers to the “close collaboration” of the public Corporation through the RTVE Chair in the development of ETSIT qualifications, in particular, in what refers to the field of “new audio and video signal formats and their transport, both in the professional environment and to the end user”.

The director of the chair, Jose Manuel Menendez, reviewed the common work between the teachers from the center and RTVE professionals, which was already intense before the current stable cooperation framework was established in 2015. He collected the award plaque on Director of Innovation and Digital at RTVE, Urbano García Alonso, who thanked the contribution of technological knowledge that the Corporation receives through the chair, especially regarding the use of high definition and 5G.
