'1 For All' relies on Blackmagic Design and DaVinci Resolve cameras

The popular Australian series that pays tribute to Dungeons and Dragons, 1 For All, was filmed with the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro and URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 models. Blackmagic Design, while DaVinci Resolve was used for its completion.

1 For All It premiered in 2019 and tells the story of a dysfunctional group of friends and a game of the game Dungeons and Dragons, with images of the characters both on the table and in the fantasy world. The fifth season of the show was recently released and will feature six episodes of five minutes each.

In 2021, this original scripted series, sponsored by Screen Australia, won the award for best television series and comedy in the Silver category of the Australian Society of Cinematographers (ACS) of New South Wales.

The series is written and directed by Elliot Owen Charles, Sydney-based director, while Goldie Soetianto (Deerstalker Pictures) has been responsible for production and cinematography since the series' inception. Likewise, the latter recorded the episodes with units Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro y URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2, and graded the images in DaVinci Resolve.

Soetianto is a queer Australian of Asian origin with three feature films to her credit: Reaching Distance, Rhapsody of Love y Waterhorse. The image quality and affordable price allowed us to create content with a professional aesthetic and a limited budget. The design of the G2 model made production easier compared to other smaller cameras, as it offers enough space and ports to connect accessories to control audio, images and focus,” he says.

“It is extraordinary that the art of cinema is so accessible to everyone today,” he adds. "There are many economical options in terms of cameras and editing and grading programs, which allows us to create professional quality content without exorbitant budgets. This provides the possibility of telling the stories we want to tell."
