Alberto del Campo's visual goldsmithing in 'As Bestas', recognized with the Goya for Best Editing

Alberto del Campo's mastery in conducting the sequences full of tension and drama in 'As Bestas' has been recognized by academics with the Goya 2023 for Best Editing.

The rural thriller Rodrigo Sorogoyen, great winner of the Goya 2023, manages to captivate the viewer by alternating emotion, tension and mystery. The atmosphere captured by the photography of Alex de Pablo he pours himself into the assembly of From the Field, responsible for summarizing a large number of hours of footage into 137 minutes that barely allow seconds of respite for the viewer.

For the editor, one of the axes of the project's success has been the emotion management, which could not have been brought to fruition without “work” and without losing the fear of “trying and extending the times as much as possible and then cutting back.”

This work of “experimentation” has been fundamental for Del Campo, who recognizes that it has been necessary “take perspective” at various points in the editing process to see how the film worked and discover if “more or less tension” was needed.

The process of post-production, as is usual for Alberto del Campo, has been executed with Avid Media Composer, his usual tool and with which he has been able to achieve his second Goya after The Kingdom, also with Sorogoyen: “For me, it is the tool with which I can edit faster and more fluidly”
