AES67

It seems like it was yesterday, but ten years have passed since the emergence of one of the most powerful and low-latency AoIP technologies to date. Intrinsically compatible with AES67, Ravenna developed the world's first AoIP technology fully compatible with this protocol.

Ravenna 10 years AES67Since the standard was developed by the Audio Engineering Society (AES), all existing AoIP solutions, such as Livewire, QLAN, Dante and Wheatnet, among others, have adopted AES67 as an operating mode or profile, which has allowed the interoperability of more than 2,000 products.

In addition, a series of connection tests have been successfully held in Europe and the United States to prove that AES67 has a solid foundation and achieves its goal: interoperability between equipment from a wide range of manufacturers.

AES67 also forms the basis of the SMPTE ST 2110 standards set for transporting professional media over managed IP networks. ST 2110-30 describes linear PCM audio transport and is based directly on AES67. For ST2110-31 (AES3 Audio Transport), SMPTE decided to adopt the existing definition Ravenna AM821, making Ravenna the most suitable technology for both creating AES67-compliant products and systems and implementing SMPTE ST 2110 on devices.

Beyond the mandatory requirements defined in AES67 y ST 2110, Ravenna offers a greater variety of format options, more flexibility for any size application, and superior performance options for the most demanding requirements of professional broadcast productions.

AES67 has been the subject of two revisions, the last of which was published in 2018. The AES67 Working Group continues its work maintaining AES67 and hopes to publish the third revision of AES67 towards the end of 2023. With the Ravenna team participating in the working groups of several standardization organizations, users can be assured that Ravenna is always aligned with the requirements of current and emerging standards.

The Ravenna team will be present at booth 8.F57 at the next edition of IBC, where they will demonstrate AES67 interoperability and present a series of new products compatible with AES67 and ST 2110 together with several partners.
