Miller to celebrate sixty years of history at NAB 2014
The Miller family business, established in 1954, jumped from Australia to the world when Eric Miller and his son, Bob, developed and patented the first fluid head.
The Australian company specializing in camera fluid heads and mounts Miller will celebrate six decades of history in Las Vegas.
Gus Harilaou, regional director for the Americas of Miller Camera Support, highlighted that "since the launch of Miller 60 years ago, the company has delivered more than 100,000 tripods and fluid heads, acquired several patents, and has won numerous awards for its exceptional quality and design. At Miller, we strive to continually improve the way camera operators capture images through our innovations. We look forward to celebrating our 60th anniversary at NAB."
The Miller family business, established in 1954, jumped from Australia to the world when Eric Miller and his son, Bob, developed and patented the first fluid head.
To support the fluid heads, Miller also began manufacturing polished wooden tripods made from New Guinea woods that are known for their strength, fine grain and ductility. Famous for their strength, there are still Miller's original wooden tripods working today. With the launch of the first portable video camera in the mid-1970s, Miller quickly migrated from a company primarily focused on manufacturing fluid heads and tripods to manufacturing ENG products.
Its systems are currently in use worldwide by more than 265 television networks around the world, including the BBC, CBC Canada, CCTV China, NBC in the US or ABC in Australia.
Coinciding with its anniversary, Miller will launch a new special limited edition of the classic LP 54 tripods, built by hand with original parts.
