Movistar Plus+ and DLO Producciones shoot 'Second Death'

'Second Death' began filming this September in various locations in Cantabria. Created by Agustín Martínez and starring Georgina Amorós and Karra Elejalde, it is an original series Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with DLO Productions.

This thriller stars a police assistant (Georgina Amorós), whose father (Karra Elejalde) is a recently retired UCO legend, who finds herself involved in a criminal investigation in a quiet Pasiego town.

The town of Liérganes is the main setting of the series with emblematic places such as the Spa, Casa de los Cañones, the statue of the Fish Man, the Miera River or the cemetery. Also Langre beach, the Sniace paper mill and the Engaña tunnel.

Second death is written by Agustín Martínez (member of Carmen Mola, The hunt: Monteperdido) e Isa Sanchez (Malaka, The Ministry of Time) and is directed by Alex Rodrigo (The pier, The paper house) y Oscar Pedraza (Homeland, Sky Red).

Susana Herreras comments that "we always try to work with the best talent and, in this case, with Agustín Martínez we had not been able to do it before. It came to us from the hand of José Manuel Lorenzo and DLO Producciones. At Movistar Plus+ we love thrillers, thrillers where the characters and the place where they develop are very important. And the script that came to us from Agustín was very different. We very rarely find scripts with that quality of character development and where the place where they develop is super important for what is happening. counting. Character story

Agustín Martínez considers that "the title of the series comes from playing with several concepts. On the one hand, the case with the appearance of a corpse that should not be there, because it actually died seven years before. It is the second death of this corpse. But we are talking about a thriller that is also a story of characters. One of them, that of Karra Elejalde, who is a character with senile dementia, there is another very important concept within the series, not only the second death, but the first death. When does the first death arrive and when? the second death of a human being arrives […] With this filming in Cantabria I am becoming a bit of a tour guide through my series. What I always look for in the settings is something that complements the story, a metaphorical vision of the background of the story. I learned about the world of the Pas valley and the pasiegos, which are fundamental in it. Second death, and it seems to me that it connected very well with the concept of the series, which is the relationship between parents and children, the relationship between two generations that do not fully understand each other. The world of pasiegos is like a world anchored in the past. And, on the other hand, there is the world of the city, of Liérganes, which is our fundamental setting.”

Alex Rodrigo admits that “Second death It's different from previous jobs I've been in, like The Money Heist, especially in the angle with which you approach the story and the angle of the viewer. The first exercise I like to do is get into the skin of the viewer. In The Money Heist You approach from a need to play with maximum anxiety all the time, the spectator's questions are who is going to die, when is he going to die, what twist is there going to be... And suddenly, when you grab Second death and you read the text, the angle from which you attack the series is radically different, it is an emotional angle in the relationship of characters that transcends the plot, you are so hooked on these protagonists that Georgina Amorós and Karra Elejalde are asking us from a place so intimate and at the same time so in a code of intrigue, that the questions you are asking yourself as a viewer are different. There is something that fascinated me from the first reading of the script. We live a fascinating intrigue about a criminal plot involving a corpse, but there is an engine of suspense and tension above them, which is whether a father and a daughter are going to hug each other or not."
