Prime Video will begin including advertising in its VOD content in 2024
Amazon's VOD service, Prime Video, has confirmed the arrival of advertisements to its audiovisual content for all subscribers.
This change in the model of Prime Video, which will begin its beta phase in the United Kingdom next year, is being carried out with the aim of being able to continue “investing in quality content” for a “long period of time.”
However, it comes with a small print. Following the model of other VOD platforms, Amazon has confirmed that it will launch a new subscription without ads which will allow those interested to do without advertising to be able to have the platform's traditional video experience for an additional payment.
Prime Video's decision in line with its main competitors in the market, comes after huge investments in the British market that include the broadcast of the football league Premier League. Added to this important asset are originals of global reach such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Boys, Jack Ryan o The Grand Tour, or its commitment to channels, giving consumers the option to subscribe for an extra to content such as Discovery+, Paramount+ o Starzplay.
