Amazon Prime Video - Advertising - Power Rings - Tablet

Following in the wake of other streaming services such as Disney+, HBO Max or Netflix, Amazon Prime Video will gradually include advertising in the different territories in which it operates throughout 2024.

The ads will arrive on Amazon Prime Video starting next January 29 in it US market, expanding to the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada from February 5 and to end of 2024 in countries like Spain, France, Italy, Mexico and Australia.

Subscribers to Amazon's Prime Video streaming service will begin to see ads in movies and television shows unless they pay an additional fee that will be around, depending on the markets, between 3 and 3.5 euros.

This step is in line with large streaming companies that have adjusted their business model in recent months trying to make deficient services profitable by introducing levels of advertising, raising prices and cutting spending on content.

According to Amazon, this measure will allow them to “continue investing in attractive content and continue increasing investment over a long period of time.”

However, at the moment, the advertising pressure that it will exert in its ad-supported version is unknown, although Amazon recognizes that the service “will have significantly fewer ads than advertising-supported television channels and other streaming television providers.”
