Secuoya Studios prepares more than twenty series, cinema and unscripted content

El catálogo de Secuoya Studios sigue creciendo en dimensiones y ambición con un futuro marcado por más de veinte obras que abarcan series, cines y unscripted.

“Generar y explotar propiedad intelectual de máxima calidad e internacionalización, tanto en su origen como en la distribución, con el sólido objetivo de ser un referente en la creación de contenidos en español para el mundo global”: esa es la aspiración de Secuoya Studios, factoría de creación audiovisual que ha presentado al mundo la roadmap que le permitirá cumplir estos objetivos a corto y medio plazo.

En los dos últimos años, el equipo de Contenidos de Fiction, under the direction of David Martínez, has developed Camp Newton y Monte Cristo, both productions premiered successfully on Canal Disney/ViX and Movistar Plus+/ViX, respectively. Likewise, the great production of the studio, Zorro, starring Miguel Bernardeau and Renata Notni, will be available exclusively on Prime Video in Latin America, the United States, Spain, Andorra and Portugal in the first half of 2024, to later be broadcast on TVE.

The studio is working on new projects for development in both next years. Among the most notable are Los 39, a historical series about the Spaniards that Christopher Columbus left on the island of Hispaniola, which is in the pre-production phase in collaboration with TVE and other partners in Spain, Latin America and Germany and will begin filming in early 2024. Likewise, the Fiction team is also working on the adaptation of High Earth, the best-selling novel by Javier Cercas, Planeta award winner, a project with a prominent streamer, which will begin filming in the middle of next year.

On the other hand, after the good reception of Monte Cristo, and fruit of the agreement with Levy Entertainment, the studio is preparing two new projects with the Cuban-American actor and producer, a series and a film, on whose development the Fiction and Film teams are already working. In addition, the creative Fiction area is in talks with René Residente and his production company, 1868 Studios, to undertake an ambitious production about the American presence in Latin America during the Cold War. Likewise, an agreement has been reached with Jimena Romero, daughter of the author of Lady Isabel, Bernardo Romero Pereiro, to carry out an adaptation of this Colombian success in English for the American market. Finally, the area directed by Martínez also works on a couple of projects in english, which they hope to resume shortly after the suspension of the strike by the Screenwriters and Actors Unions in Hollywood.

International adaptations, cinema…

The area of Secuoya Studios Stories, led by executive producer Eduardo Galdo, has reached an agreement to adapt the most successful formats of Ay Yapım, one of the most internationally successful Turkish production companies. Among the projects, it stands out Brave and Beautiful, a romantic and action melodrama, which already has a television network for free broadcast. In addition, the Granada showrunner's team will cover Love Storm, a romantic lakeside melodrama with touches of thriller, signed by the creators of the famous family secrets, y Twenty Minutes. On the other hand, we are also working on the development of our own projects and co-productions, such as Manuela, a historical drama about Manuela Sáenz.

The studio maintains its support for the co-production of cinematographic works next to Álamo Audiovisual Productions, an independent production company with which he has developed the last three films pending release: How much do I have left?, Carolina Bassecourt's debut feature, starring Kira Miró, Salva Reina, Eva Ugarte and Antonio Pagudo; Invasion, directed by David Martín-Porras and starring María Adánez, Fran Berenguer, Sofía Oria, Claudia Salas, Álvaro Rico and Nourdin Batán, among others; and The Flag, Hugo Martín Cuervo's third project with Eduardo Campoy, a dramatic comedy with Imanol Arias, Aitor Luna, Miquel Fernández and Ana Fernández. In the middle of this month of October, the production team will begin filming Parents, a story of intrigue and suspense starring Fernando Cayo and Natalia Verbeke, written and directed by José Ángel Bohollo. Campoy will also executive produce the film starring William Levy and reasonable doubt, a thriller based on the play by Borja Ortiz de Gondrá, both filming is planned throughout 2024.

Likewise, the Film area has two more projects in its portfolio: The Director, a co-production with Beta Fiction Spain, Fremantle and Play Time, directed by Dani de la Orden and based on the book by journalist David Jiménez, and Solos, based on the literary success of Paloma Bravo and with María Pulido in the direction.

Decided bet on the Unscripted

The team of Unscripted, directed by Alfredo Pérez de Albéniz, celebrates the great reception of its latest releases documentaries: 13 Days y JK Flight 5022. The Spanair tragedy, which have ranked at the top of the most viewed documentary content on Netflix and Movistar Plus+. Three proposals that have captivated users and specialized critics, thanks to their differential perspective, as well as their exquisite and innovative narrative proposal. Likewise, last September was the starting signal for the new season of its daily live spaces, Analysis Table y Nowadays, both on Canal Sur, and the weekly ZoomÀ Punt's leading prime-time investigative reporting space for five seasons. The new installment of 091: Police Alert, a program that has consolidated its place on the grid of the free-to-air channel operated by Warner Bros. Discovery.

The department directed by Alfredo Pérez de Albéniz has just successfully launched the reality adventure The Hunt: nothing is what it seems in ETB2 and prepare now Nudes for the life, a docureality based on the international format Who Bares Wins, successfully broadcast in France, England, Italy, Germany and Australia, which will soon hit Mediaset screens. Likewise, the studio will soon release the documentary series The Dolce Vita on AMC's premium channel, El Gourtmet, and is already in post-production Team Heretics: A story of talents, a docuseries about a business initiative launched by four young people under 20 years old, which has become a true million-dollar phenomenon.

On the other hand, the studio announced the recent incorporation of Anna Cassina, who will be in charge of International Production, a key division in the international expansion of the studio, which is being reinforced to consolidate the provision of production services for feature films and international film series, with special interest in the US and Latin American markets.
