Limecraft develops AI-based subtitling tool for SVT

SVT, Sweden's public television, is getting closer to its goal of offering subtitles for 100% of its on-demand news content thanks to a subtitling plugin developed by Limecraft that integrates into your production environment.

Customer of Avid For many years, SVT has needed a new tool that complements the production tool to introduce subtitles to its content in an agile, fast and easy-to-use way for non-technical personnel.

Limecraft y Woody Tech have developed a solution that responds to this problem, which explains in depth Olof Appelqvist, head of post-production at SVT: "SVT committed to subtitling 95% of its content, but much of our online content is short and the subtitling process has always been very manual and slow. With our journalists increasingly taking responsibility for creating subtitles, it was clear that we needed to find a better way to fulfill our responsibilities."

Thanks to the new integration, users can create subtitles generated by AI with only press a button within the production environment, which “drastically” speeds up processes. For Martin Verwaest, co-founder of Limecraft, the solution “is a great example of technology that brings demonstrable efficiency benefits and simplifies workflows.” Appelqvist, of SVT, agrees: "This solution has allowed us to reallocate human resources to other areas of the company and is saving us a significant amount of money - millions of Swedish krona per year. This, in turn, allows us to maintain the quantity and increase the quality of our news without any sacrifice, as well as offer a better experience to our deaf and hard of hearing viewers."
