Cristóbal Garrido and Adolfo Valor have commented that "the life of Luis I is a brief parenthesis in the History of Spain. We came to it by chance and in the research process we fell in love with the period and its protagonists. Four very different people to whom the throne gives more sorrow than joy in an exciting context. A fun, sad, surprising and emotional story that speaks of the search for freedom, the enormous weight of the crown and something even heavier: the family."
In the series, like any young man, Luis is about to experience big changes. He is married to an unknown cousin and is going to inherit the throne of Spain. In the 18th century this would be a happy episode in the life of any prince, but they are not going to make it easy for Luis.
With a rebellious wife (Luisa de Orleans, Alicia Armenteros), an alienated father (Felipe V, Javier Gutiérrez) and a conspiring stepmother (Isabel de Farnesio, Leonor Watling), Luis I (Carlos Scholz) has to begin his reign. Luckily for him, the problems will end soon.
