José María Beneyto assumes the presidency of the Spanish Association of Consulting Companies
The Assembly of the Spanish Association of Consulting Companies (AEC), which brings together 27 of the most important consulting and information technology companies, elects professor and lawyer José María Beneyto as its new president.
Beneyto, who has a long national and international career, both in the public and private sectors, assumes the presidency of the AEC at a time of growth for consulting in Spain, a sector that is driving the digital transformation of companies and institutions and the modernization of our economy. In recent years, the Association has reached 27 members, who represent the 67% of the sector, which places it as the benchmark in the consulting and advanced technologies market.
"One of the main objectives that we have set is to publicize the great impact that consulting has in all areas of the economy, in quality employment and in sustainable growth. Companies in the sector are leaders in innovation, training and new technologies, so they have a lot to contribute in the dialogue with institutions and in public-private collaboration," says Beneyto.
The AEC thus opens a new stage that continues its work as a meeting forum for companies, public administrations, universities and other training centers. A key sector for the country's competitiveness that represents almost 20,000 million in annual income and brings together 265,000 professionals.
The new president of the AEC, who succeeds Elena Salgado in office, has a Law degree with Extraordinary Prize from the University of Navarra and a Master's Degree in Law from Harvard University. Likewise, he has a doctorate in Law and a doctorate in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Münster, and a diploma in Senior Business Management (PADE) from IESE. In the academic field, he is a visiting professor at Harvard University, professor of International Law, European Law and International Relations at the San Pablo CEU University, and holder of the Jean Monnet ad personam Chair of the European Union.
In the public sector he has been an official of the European Union, deputy to Congress and vice president of the Council of Europe. His activity has also been directed to literary production: he is the author of several novels and various essays, including having written or directed the collective publication of more than sixty books and a hundred articles on the European Union.
