Blackmagic Design continues to improve its post-production tool, DaVinci Resolve 19, to optimize its grading capabilities and expand its purpose to all phases of post-production: editing, sound, special effects...

DaVinci Resolve 19 includes as its main novelties a new motor neuronal based on artificial intelligence and more than 100 updated features. In the module Edition, highlight the new improvements in terms of transcription, which offer the opportunity to edit clips based on transcribed text directly on the timeline. The analyzer now also provides the ability to detect multiple voices, allowing you to assign names to different speakers and refine text search and replacement.

Inside the module Mounting, operators will be able to select the images captured by the cameras live, in real time, in order to carry out replays immediately con efectos de cámara lenta y transiciones animadas. Esta nueva función permite ver las señales de las cámaras en directo o incluso clips con un código de tiempo en común en una pantalla de visualización simultánea: es posible desplazarse por las imágenes, reproducir y seleccionar tomas para añadirlas a la línea de tiempo o simplemente emitirlas al aire, e incluso alternar entre distintos ángulos en directo.

Adicionalmente, al mirar las señales de cámaras en directo o una visualización simultánea de clips, los operadores tendrán la oportunidad de señalar un evento significativo con un marcador de punto de interés (o «PDI»). Este se agrega en todos los clips al mismo tiempo, de modo que se puede buscar dicho evento con suma rapidez en cada ángulo de la cámara, reproducirlo al aire o incluso crear una línea de tiempo con momentos destacados relacionados.

Mejoras en el tratamiento de color y VFX

DaVinci Resolve 19 estrena UltraNR, un nuevo modo de reducción de ruido dinamizado por su motor neuronal en el panel correspondiente del módulo Color que puede ser usado para disminuir drásticamente el ruido digital de un fotograma mientras que se conserva la claridad de imagen. Alternativamente, se puede combinar con la reducción de ruido temporal con el propósito de lograr un efecto mayor en imágenes en movimiento. Otra novedad es el nuevo creador de estéticas cinematográficas, que permite generar estilos que simulan características de las cintas, tales como halos, resplandores, granulosidad, parpadeos y viñetados. Su funcionamiento es sencillo: basta con ajustar los pasos de la exposición y emplear los controles de saturación sustractiva, intensidad y tonos divididos para lograr aquellas apriencias que se suelen encontrar en la gran pantalla.

Blackmagic también presenta el nuevo panel ColorSlice de etalonaje de seis vectores, que utiliza procesos cromáticos sustractivos para ajustar la densidad, la saturación y el matiz de la imagen. Los parámetros de cada área personalizable brindan la posibilidad de mejorar y potenciar el color de manera que luzca “agradable y natural”.

Within the Fusion module, the function VolumeU makes it possible to import volumetric VDB files directly in Fusion, which avoids inefficient conversions. Additionally, it offers creative control over imported effects, such as smoke, fire, clouds and explosions, providing control over the density, temperature and color of the VDB file in DaVinci. This new feature displays all masks in a single list, eliminating the need to switch between nodes for more precise and agile rotoscoping techniques.

A new approach to audio

DaVinci Resolve 19 brings important audio improvements, such as tracking using the IntelliTrack inside the module Fairlight to generate a precise audio distribution by tracking people or objects as they move through 2D and 3D spaces. This system provides the possibility of distributing the voices of different actors in a scene by controlling their position in the mixing environment, and is complemented by a dialogue separation effect based on artificial intelligence, which allows the dialogue to be adjusted according to the ambient sound and the reverberation of the room, in addition to voice, background and ambient controls with which it is possible to reduce, remix or eliminate conflicting sounds.

Another important novelty is the new auto fade effect, which allows one track to automatically adjust the volume of another without the need to set complex sidechain compression or automation curves. This feature allows you to reduce music or background noise when the presence of dialogue is detected and then adjust the audio mix with advanced controls, as well as providing controls to mute and adjust vocals, drums, bass, guitars and other instruments.

Finally, the Fairlight module can now control the Ambisonic surround sound, spherical format that allows recording, mixing, controlling and delivering this type of audio tracks. DaVinci Resolve 19 offers fully integrated native operation with first- to fifth-order buses and tracks, native effects processing, 2D and 3D spherical distribution, binaural and channel-based monitoring, in-viewfinder dynamic metering, and head tracking support.
