Is the world silent underwater? No, the depths of the sea are filled with all kinds of exciting sounds and voices like any other species-rich habitat. However, humans cannot perceive these sounds under normal circumstances, so this world has been hidden from us until now.
Now, a documentary production promoted by Ambient Recording, together with Marlin and the tour operator Karibiksport, aims to discover a new underwater world. To do this, it has used a technology, until now only available to researchers, that allows the recording of the sounds of the underwater world with immersive audio.
Using the new RS5 system with its extremely sensitive underwater microphones (hydrophones), which are installed in pressure-resistant directivity spheres, it has been possible for the first time to create directional underwater recordings.
In this project, a special waterproof casing made of anodized aluminum has also been used in which the recorder has been housed and can descend up to about one hundred meters.
