Qvest upgrades Channel 9's broadcast infrastructure and production environments
The broadcaster Channel 9, based in Melbourne (Australia) and belonging to the company Nine Networks, has trusted That's it for the renewal of all its news, sports and post-production environments, as well as the implementation of a new broadcast infrastructure.
Building on the successful remodeling of news, sports and post-production at the headquarters of Channel 9 in Sydney, Nine Network Australia expanded its collaboration with Qvest as its trusted advisor and lead integrator of systems to the chain's headquarters in Melbourne. As part of this project, Qvest was responsible for the design, commissioning and support for the renovation of news, sports and post-production facilities. The project also included the training of all editorial and production staff in the new tools and workflows.
One of the objectives of this project was harmonize workflows and the technology of the two largest Nine Network headquarters, Sydney y Melbourne. Melbourne can now be used as recovery center in the event of a disaster, and operations can be switched from one location to another thanks to the harmonization of tools, workflows and processes.
The project's design options were guided by two other priorities- Ensure a robust solution that can reliably broadcast all major events for which Nine Network is Australia's leading broadcaster, such as the Australian Open and the Olympic Games, and select the most streamlined and cost-effective facilities and tools. The result is the implementation of solutions that enable aligned workflows, increased security, and an agile production environment. As with the previous upgrade of Channel 9's Sydney headquarters, the project has been carried out with the support of suppliers such as Avid, EVS o Woody.
Geoff Sparke, director of broadcast operations Channel 9, highly values Qvest's role in this project: "With Qvest we have found the ideal long-term partner bringing international experience and supplier knowledge to the Australian market. The Melbourne project was a successful continuation of this partnership, and it was clear that Qvest would undertake the planning, procurement, commissioning and support of the entire Nine production system at both sites to our full satisfaction."
On the other hand, Thomas Grandoch, director of That's it in ANZ, explains: "Modern technology and agile, efficient processes are essential for media companies to thrive in the current landscape. We are proud to continue driving technological innovation at Channel 9: it is a strong vote of confidence."
