The Board of Directors of the General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) recognizes screenwriter and producer Gema R. Neira with its 2025 Medal of Honor. Joaquín Sabina, Jordi Milan and Editorial Boileau will also receive this distinction. In addition, María Lejárraga has been posthumously appointed Honorary President of the entity.

The SGAE Medals of Honor, which will be awarded on Wednesday, May 21 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, ​​are a tribute to his talent and valuable contributions to culture and society. With this award, the entity recognizes the careers of outstanding cultural creators in the fields of music, audiovisual, performing arts and music publishing.

The president of SGAE, Antonio Onetti, has highlighted the significance of the award-winning authors: "Each of these medals recognizes a unique career, but together they form a collective portrait of what culture means to society. We are deeply grateful to those who inspire us with their art and help us build a more sensitive, fair and humane world."

Onetti has stressed that with the Honorary presidency to María Lejárraga, “SGAE also pays tribute to all those silenced women who, despite the adversities of their time, have contributed decisively to the development of culture.”

The Board of Directors of SGAE has recognized Gema R. Neira, screenwriter and creator of successful television series, as a fundamental part of the renewal of television fiction in Spain; Joaquin Sabina, for being one of the indisputable references of the author's song of our country; Jordi Milan, soul and director of the La Cubana company, emblem of the state scene for its ability to bring theater to the general public through humor; and to the Editorial Boileau, the oldest music publisher in Spain, with more than a century of history, because it has contributed to the dissemination and conservation of classical and contemporary musical heritage.

Screenwriter and series creator, Gema R. Neira (Ferrol, 1982) has been a key figure in the revolution of television fiction in our country. He joined SGAE on July 9, 2004 and It has 1,191 registered works, among which there are movies and all the episodes of series such as Velvet, Gran Hotel, The cable girls, Fariña, Manual for young ladies, Six sisters, La Favorita 1922 o The Asunta case. Development director and producer at Bamboo Productions, His narrative style combines documentary rigor, emotion and unforgettable characters. His signature has contributed to the international rise of Spanish series.
