Sony redoubles its commitment to LED with the new Capri series
Designed to make virtual production “even more accessible”, the Capri family of LED modules complements the Verona range, in which it is a new commitment to Sony to consolidate itself in the world of LED supports for cinema and television.
The series Capri (ZRD-VS25FB y ZRD-VS25FM) combines high refresh rates of up to 7.680 Hz to reduce sweep line artifacts and provide smooth, fluid motion in the process. With a high brightness 1,500 cd/m2, complemented by coverage of more than 98% DCI-P3 color gamut, the screens accurately reproduce realistic images. In addition, the new models incorporate functions anti-reflective to mitigate the impact of reflections from lighting equipment.
The latest Crystal LED Capri series takes advantage of recent advances in installation to ensure a quick assembly and effective. With a 1:1 cabinet optimized for temporary installations such as virtual production stages, models can be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled using locating pins for easy alignment and a tool-free lever locking mechanism. Capri also has features designed to simplify maintenance- LED module blocks can be changed from the rear and feature status indicator lights to easily identify which blocks need maintenance. Furthermore, the modular nature of Crystal LED Allows installation in a variety of sizes and configurations, including stacked, hung, curved or oval installation
As part of Sony's suite of virtual production tools, Crystal LED Capri models are compatible with Color Calibrator to ensure that the colors displayed before shooting match the colors that appear on the dailies. Additionally, the camera and display plugin combines technical information about the cameras and LED hue to help predict and address the aliasing during preview and filming. Version 3.0 of Virtual Production Tool Set, scheduled for fall 2025, will offer off-axis color shift compensation, exclusive to select Crystal LED series, such as Capri, Verona y B-series. By using information about the camera position, this function will correct in real time the color changes due to a curved or angled installation, significantly reducing color correction and editing in post-production. Furthermore, being compatible with solutions such as SX40 card of Brompton y Helios of Megapixel, the models Capri Crystal LED They will allow users to take advantage of the same interfaces that are already commonly used in the sector.
The latest models Crystal LED are aimed at a wide range of customers seeking cost-effective support for virtual production, like television, feature films, advertisements and broadcast, as well as for rental, corporate and staging.
