Iris America Awards - AIL - TV Academy

The XVII Summit of the Latin American Information Alliance (AIL), which will be held in Lima on June 11, 12 and 13, will have its finishing touch with the Iris América 2025 Awards, awards also promoted by the Television Academy which seeks to recognize the best journalistic works of the Alliance and aims to create a link between professionals from both continents.

The presenters Maritere Braschi (conductor of Weekly Report) y Pedro Tenorio (driver of Latina Morning News) will be the masters of ceremony of a gala produced and broadcast by the team of Latin Television host of the AIL Summit this year, starting at 8:30 p.m. (Peru) and 3:30 a.m. (Spain) on June 13. This year, they have also confirmed that different Latin American channels will also broadcast the ceremony, such as: Canal 4 (Uruguay), Caracol News (Colombia), Ecuavisa (Ecuador), S.I.N News (Dominican Republic), All News (Argentina), TeleAruba (Aruba), Telecuraço (Curacao), Telefuturo (Paraguay), Teletica (Costa Rica), Aztec Television (Mexico), TVN (Panama), Venevision (Venezuela) and HERE (Puerto Rico).

Iris América Awards - AIL - TV Academy - Jury meetingThese awards were born in 2014 with the aim of uniting ties between Spain and Latin America and recognizing the best television works of the AIL in three categories: Best Television Story, Best Investigative Work and Best Breaking News Coverage. The jury for this edition was made up of Maria Casado Paredes (journalist and current president of the Television Academy); Manuel Campo Vidal (journalist, sociologist and president emeritus of the Television Academy); Alejandra Andrade (journalist and reporter Out of Coverage in Four); José Ángel Abad (journalist and correspondent Antena 3 News in the USA), and Lina Correa (journalist from The Voice of America). The winner of each category will be awarded a five-day trip to Spain to tour different audiovisual companies in the country and a series of meetings with professionals and managers in the sector.

The awards will be part of a new AIL summit, which will feature the participation of managers from the 22 associated channels and representatives of global communication organizations such as the ENEX news agency, the African Broadcasting Union (AUB), the public radio television of Cape Verde and the Chinese news agency CCTV+. During the extensive program of the summit, on Thursday and Friday, June 12 and 13, several talks and round tables will take place such as: “Geopolitics in the Trump era: Perspectives and risks” hosted by the journalist and president emeritus of the TV Academy Manuel Campo Vidal and that will have the participation of Tony Cavin (director of editorial standards and ethics at National Public Radio USA); “Global polarization and the media” moderated by the president of the TV Academy Maria Casado and in which they will participate Monica Delta (journalist and presenter of Latina Noticias), Ricardo Ravanelli (director of Noticias Artear), Juan Roberto Vargas (news director of Caracol Noticias) and Amada Castañon (head of international news at Televisión Azteca), or “Technological strategies for the new era” moderated by Francisco Moreno, of the Board of Directors of AcademiaTV.
