EITB consolidates serial fiction in Basque with 'Odol Ilargia'

Directed by David R. Losada, Baleu roll these days to EITB in Basauri, Galdakao and Bilbao the five-episode fiction series 'Odol Ilargia'.

This thriller with fantastic elements is based on a script written by David R. Losada and Mikel Alvarez Sarriegi based on the novel When we rewrite history by Belén Martínez.

Blood Moon It focuses on two temporal moments in the life of a group of friends, with ten years of difference between both moments (2015 and 2025). The story revolves around a suicide behind which a trauma hidden for years is hidden and which Julen, protagonist of the series, must bring to light. Through this journey, fiction focuses on themes such as second chances, the value of friendship or sexual identity.

The casting is made up of a combination of new faces and established Basque actors and actresses. Among the youngest performers we find Jon Muñoz, Aritz Kortabarria, Nekane Otxoa, Sambou Diaby, Itziar de Castro, Lier Alava, Asier Valdestilla, Mikele Arizkorreta or Nerea Sanz. Along with them, more experienced actors and actresses such as Iñigo Aranburu, Iraia Elias or Aitor Borobia. The subjective perspective so typical of youth, and always so anchored to the emotional, will be recorded by the personal perspective of Losada himself, who opts for a contemporary language, accentuated by a frenetic rhythm. In addition, music is a key element, with songs by groups like Belako and 2zio, and with the important contribution in the composition of the original music by Elena Setién.

For David R. Losada this is the first time directing a fiction series, after having directed the feature films The night of the mouse (2015) y Lady off (2018), and more recently the short film Mosquito (2023).
