RTVE prepares ‘Dra. Fabiola Jones', a factual that will address wildlife from Africa
The professional and personal side of the veterinarian Fabiola Quesada will be reflected in 'Dra. Fabiola Jones', a factual format produced by RTVE in collaboration with Warner Bros. ITVP Spain which promises “adventure, action, emotion and dissemination.”
From rhinos, lions, buffalos and elephants to zebras, antelopes and cheetahs, Dr. Fabiola Jones will show Quesada's direct intervention on some of the most emblematic species of the continent. Based on South Africa and locations in Namibia, the program will address some of the most serious threats to African biodiversity, focusing on the fragile balance of ecosystems and the conflicts that arise when this balance is broken: from zoonotic diseases to tensions between wildlife and humans.
The program, created with a “unique perspective” and with a “female voice in front", will immerse the viewer in surgical operations in the middle of the savannah, the tense "dehorning" of the most endangered animal to prevent hunting, risky captures using anesthetic darts, vital transfers of wild fauna, patrols against poachers, delicate rescues of orphans, rigorous medical check-ups and essential recovery projects in shelters and sanctuaries. In addition, the production will show the daily contact with the local communities, nightlife in wild environments and will even address marine fauna.
Born in Úbeda (Jaén), Fabiola Quesada She is a veterinarian by vocation and graduated from the University of Córdoba. Due to her solid career in veterinary medicine applied to wildlife and her passion for conservation, Fabiola has become a reference in her field. She is currently vice president of the Association of Spanish Scientists in Southern Africa and combines her research work with direct work on the ground, facing the challenges of conservation on a daily basis. In addition, she carries out important work training veterinarians in southern Africa and developing conservation and animal health projects, through Wild Spirit, the foundation that she created.
With a mare as her first pet and a natural connection with wildlife, her bond with animals began in her childhood, at which time she decided to be an “animal doctor.” Fabiola has been living in Africa for more than 15 years, where she has made her profession a way of life. In his house, located in the middle of a reserve, he lives with antelopes that he has raised and other animals that are part of his daily environment.
