Middle Castile-La Mancha has implemented a new technology for the subtitling of its programming, both news and entertainment programs, in real time and 24 hours a day thanks to artificial intelligence supervised by CMM's technical team.

The technology, offered by the company Etiqmedia, allows high precision in the subtitling of the different programs broadcast by regional television, whether recorded or live and for all types of spaces, including sporting events.

In this way, the service offered to viewers is optimized, improving accessibility to content for people with hearing disabilities or those who simply consume television without audio, in addition to reducing costs.

In the case of live programs, the system works in such a way that, once it captures the audio signal, it makes a automatic speech recognition using specific algorithms y AI transcribes them into text. It immediately goes through natural language processing, which is responsible for adding punctuation, capitalization, and formatting it appropriately. Finally, text is output with video and sent for superimposition on the screen. This entire process can take about 3 or 4 seconds.

If the spaces are previously recorded, the process remains the same, but the human factor is added for a review of said subtitles and their possible correction in the event that there are errors in recognition or interpretation of the context. The Accuracy of this system is 96% efficient, which offers a qualitative leap in accessibility, offering a more agile and precise service.

To access this service, the viewer must activate the subtitling service on their television set through its settings or, if available, the subtitling button on the remote control.

One of the most notable capabilities of the use of artificial intelligence in image subtitling is the ability to manage bilingual environments between Spanish and any of the co-official languages.
