NoiseHouse enters fully into immersive audio with The Ones active monitors from Genelec
The studies NoiseHouse, based in Irvine (California), installs a The Ones monitoring system from Genelec. This studio joins Studio A and Studio C of the facilities, also equipped with these active monitors.
Founded in 2010 by CEO Daniel Bailey, NoiseHouse has become a global powerhouse in music and multimedia content, delivering dynamic radio shows, DJ mixes and immersive productions for some of the world's most famous DJs, artists, brands and venues. In addition, he is also responsible for the management of Insomniac Radio, which broadcasts the best of dance music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Throughout his career, Bailey has championed Genelec monitors as the cornerstone of his creative workflow, equipping each NoiseHouse studio with a consistent, professional-quality monitoring setup. Currently, Studio A has a stereo setup with two monitors Genelec 8341A and a subwoofer 7360A, while the new Studio B serves as the facility's Dolby Atmos room, equipped with 11 Genelec 8341A monitors in an immersive 7.1.4 configuration. Studio C mirrors Studio A's setup with a pair of 8341A monitors and a matching 7360A subwoofer. This uniform approach ensures perfect monitoring consistency across all rooms, allowing the NoiseHouse team to effortlessly transition from stereo to immersive projects without compromising quality.
Measuring approximately 6 meters by 4.5 meters and a height of 3 meters, Studio B has been meticulously designed to provide an optimal acoustic environment for spatial mixing and meet Dolby's specifications for the room. This studio is equipped with a specially designed floating floor that reduces structural vibrations and eliminates unwanted resonance. Additionally, the walls are fully insulated to block sound transmission and minimize reflections, providing a highly accurate and transparent listening environment. The room's thoughtful acoustic treatments further enhance clarity, spatial imaging and depth, making it perfect for Atmos music production, post-production work and other immersive audio formats.
This meticulously controlled space allows engineers, producers and artists to create three-dimensional soundscapes with precision, reliability and consistency across different playback systems. Additionally, Studio B is part of a complete Genelec monitoring ecosystem across NoiseHouse facilities, which includes three studios, all equipped with Genelec solutions.
Studio B was custom designed and built by NoiseHouse's chief engineer, Taylor Jaymin, with the help of his collaborators Andrew Truong and Scott Campos. The planning phase lasted six months and included detailed layout design, equipment selection and materials procurement. Construction was completed in just three months. The acquisition of the equipment was carried out in close collaboration with Michael Duncan of Sweetwater and Ryan Coomer of Vintage King Los Angeles.
Daniel Bailey, states that "Our new Genelec system was purchased to improve the accuracy and consistency of our monitoring in immersive and stereo formats. With the increasing demand for spatial audio production, we needed a system that could deliver accurate imaging, transparency and reliable translation in different playback environments. The technology Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) from Genelec ensures optimal room calibration, allowing us to make critical mixing decisions with confidence. When deciding on the immersive format, we chose Atmos for Studio B because it is the industry standard for immersive audio in music, film, and video games. Its flexibility in playback systems and broad support from streamers, record labels and hardware manufacturers make it the most accessible and future-proof format for space production.”
The NoiseHouse system is designed to support a wide range of clients and projects, from high-end music production and immersive mixing to audio for film, television and video games. “As spatial audio continues to grow, it is being embraced by artists, producers and engineers creating dynamic, immersive experiences,” says Bailey. "It also offers an ideal solution for brands and content creators looking for advanced sound design for advertisements, virtual reality and interactive media. Whether mixing in stereo, Dolby Atmos or producing a full DJ Atmos mix, this setup offers the precision and consistency needed for professional-quality results."
For Dolby Atmos mixing and mastering, the studio relies on the interface and monitoring controller They will listen to Oria, which integrates perfectly with Dolby Atmos Renderer and allows efficient monitoring of the mixture. Pro Tools, Studio One and Cubase are the main DAWs for mixing, while Ableton remains the preferred platform for production. The studio is also expanding its range of outboard equipment with the addition of an SSL Bus+, a Black Box HG-2 stereo analogue mastering processor, a Tube-Tech CL 2A compressor and a Maag Audio EQ4M mastering equaliser.
“Our new Genelec system elevates the precision and consistency of our monitoring, whether we are producing traditional stereo content or fully immersive Atmos mixes,” notes Bailey. “Genelec’s Smart Active Monitoring technology ensures we can make critical decisions with confidence, knowing our mixes will translate perfectly across all playback environments.”
The production team
At the heart of NoiseHouse's creative output is a powerful team of producers, engineers and visionaries who rely on Genelec monitoring every day to bring their work to life with precision and clarity. Daniel Bailey spends much of his time in Studio C, where he produces radio shows, DJ mixes and curated content for Insomniac Radio with consistent precision and impact. Rachel Purcell, director of operations, is the backbone of the organization, overseeing daily logistics and controlling the quality of production in all departments. His personal setup includes two Genelec 8040A monitors and a 7360A subwoofer, which he uses to review audio and video content, select music programming, and ensure that each final cut fits NoiseHouse's vision.
In study B, Taylor Jaymin, lead Dolby Atmos engineer, leads immersive audio production, focusing on Atmos mixes, original music, and live audio recordings. His work is central to NoiseHouse's multi-dimensional sound, supporting projects ranging from collaborations with artists to spatial mixes for Insomniac Radio. Studio A is home to Bryce Sorensen, chief producer, and Adam Sheridan, producer, two creative forces creating original productions, DJ mixes and music selection for a wide range of artists. Both rely on identical Genelec monitoring setups, allowing them to realize their sonic vision with complete confidence. Together, this dream team forms the core of NoiseHouse's dynamic production ecosystem, all powered by Genelec every day.
When asked about the future of Atmos and how he approaches mixing, Jaymin emphasizes that "My approach to mixing in immersive audio starts with establishing a solid stereo foundation, making sure key elements are balanced and have impact. Once that is in place, the real creativity begins. Mixing in immersive formats offers many more possibilities, almost like producing music with complete freedom to shape the space and movement of sound. Immersive mixing, and specifically Dolby Atmos, is without a doubt the It is already being adopted by major labels, streaming platforms and artists, making it a vital part of the evolving sound landscape. Atmos offers unprecedented creative possibilities, enabling a more dynamic, spatial and emotionally engaging listening experience. Its adaptability to different playback systems, from headphones to multi-speaker setups, ensures accessibility to a wide audience. With strong industry support and continued technological advances, I believe Atmos is positioned to become an enduring and influential standard in music production. musical production.
