Grass Valley - UHD IP - RMC BFM -

The switchers, mixers and multiscreens of Grass Valley will serve as the technological foundation for the transition to IP and UHD environments of RMC BFM, France's third private media group.

The implementation, whose start-up is scheduled for early January 2026, involves the complete renovation of one of the main production galleries of RMC BFM. The core of the new infrastructure is the Grass Valley switch K-Frame SXP (192×92 full 2110/full UHD), along with a control surface Cain with 3 stripes and a satellite panel Cain of 1 stripe. The system is complemented with seven Kaleido-IP X440 2110 multi-displays, which allow the UHD monitoring in IP environments.

David Grimal, technical director of broadcasting at RMC BFM, believes that moving from its legacy systems Kahuna y Kaleido-X to the solutions K-Frame XP y Kaleido-IP of Grass Valley was a “natural step” for the company. In their own words: "We needed to move to UHD without compromising performance or capacity. The move to IP, based on a Cisco backbone, posed new challenges, but Grass Valley solutions gave us the confidence to manage this change effectively. Kaleido-IP was a logical step forward for us."

Quentin Berthet, director of broadcast infrastructure at RMC BFM, adds: "The move from Kahuna to K-Frame XP is not only a technical upgrade, but also a change in mindset and production capabilities. Grass Valley has been a trusted partner throughout this transition, ensuring interoperability and providing us with the tools we need to deliver UHD content with reliability and flexibility."

To Grass Valley, the project is strategic: it is one of the first transitions in France from Kahuna a K-Frame XP, which serves to “pave the way” for other media groups to “follow their example.” Carlos Ferreira, vice president of sales for Southern and Central Europe at Grass Valley, does not hesitate to describe the project as “historic” for the French market: "We are proud to support its trajectory with solutions that not only satisfy current requirements, but also provide a scalable foundation for future upgrades. This collaboration reinforces Grass Valley's role as a trusted partner for customers who are evolving their production facilities."
