DHD SX2 - Melody Chain

The Colombian station Cadena Melodía has opted for production consoles DHD SX2 to update its Bogotá studios, key components of a transversal digitalization project executed by Andean Aspa.

Founded in 1967 after the merger of Radio Industrial and Melodía FM Estéreo, Melody Chain It expanded in the 1980s with stations in Bucaramanga, Cúcuta, Cartagena de Indias, Barranquilla, Cali and Pasto. Now, with a consolidated proposal with national reach, the chain's technical management has decided to commit to a complete renovation of its central television studios. Bogota. John Paul León, commercial technical director of Aspa Andina, considers that this intervention “marks a milestone.” And Cadena Melodía has become the first station in Colombia that has “entrusted” its digitalization process to the control surface DHD's SX2.

The system allows the interconnection of multiple studios via cable Ethernet Cat6. In addition to their function as production mixers, SX2 control surfaces can be used to perform audio routing from any available input to assigned outputs, including recording tools, cabin monitoring, audio codec returns, and hybrid outputs. Routing is monitored through a 10 inch multi-touch screen which forms the top section of each SX2 modular control surface.

Each of the DHD control surfaces It is equipped with motorized faders that have allowed the implementation of a virtual microphone mixer in a second layer, which optimizes costs and space in the control room, allowing automatic mixing. The studio microphones are routed to one of the 16 program buses available, controllable using DHD's Automix tool.

The DHD system, which supports a large number of audio inputs and outputs in all major audio formats, has been completed with the installing headphone jacks with independent level control, as well as a telephone hybrid Compatible with traditional POTS/PSTN telephone lines and VoIP telephony. “In summary, we appreciate the trust of the entire management, technical and administrative team of Cadena Melodía de Colombia for allowing us to continue being part of the technological renewal of radio in the country,” said León.
