RTVE recovers one of its great sports and Christmas traditions, ski jumping

After fifteen years of absence, ski jumping returns RTVE on New Year's Day with a broadcast from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

Beyond its importance in the sports calendar (it is the second test of the four that make up the Four Trampolines Circuit) it is a social event that has been part of the life of Spaniards since 1962 and for 50 years along with the New Year's concert.

This competition was created in 1952 and in those first years only German and Austrian jumpers participated. It has been held since then in the Garmisch Olympic Stadium, which hosted the parade of athletes at the 1936 Winter Olympic Games, the fourth in history.

Who was already a commentator on the latest editions, the journalist Paco Grande, will once again be the narrator in this edition accompanied by Pablo Egea. With this return, RTVE reinforces its public service mission, bringing Spanish viewers closer to sports classics with great tradition and wide international following. The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Jumps are among the most watched sporting competitions in the world.
