Carlo D’Ursi will preside over the merged PIAF – MAPA
Producer Carlo D'Ursi has been elected new president of PIAF (Federated Independent Audiovisual Producers) – MAPA (Territorial Table of Audiovisual Producers).
D'Ursi who takes over with the aim of reinforcing the institutional dialogue, the cooperation between territories and the search for consensus at a time of transformation of the audiovisual sector. During his speech upon assuming his new position, the producer stressed that the industry faces a stage marked by profound changes and fragile balances: "We live in a time in which industrial, institutional and cultural balances can change rapidly. That is why it is more important than ever to build bridges and build common lines within the sector."
The new president also wants to highlight the territorial character of the federation, made up of regional and regional associations, and assures that his presidency will seek to reinforce that diversity. "That this presidency is in Madrid does not imply centralism, it implies accessibility. We will take advantage of the proximity to the institutions to transfer the demands of all the territories more quickly," he points out.
D'Ursi also highlights the incorporation of a vice presidency with the producer Carlos Juarez, with the aim of reinforcing attention to the regional realities and the linguistic diversity of the audiovisual sector. Among the priorities of his mandate stands out the reinforcement of dialogue with public administrations, televisions and platforms: “It is not just about talking about the new cinema law, but about opening a constructive debate on the challenges that lie ahead for the audiovisual industry,” said D’Ursi.
During his speech he also highlighted the importance of diversity within the sector, stating that "I am an LGTBI man and diversity is part of my life and my way of understanding the world. That look towards inclusion and plurality will be present in this presidency."
The producer concluded his speech with a reference to the cinema of Luis García Berlanga, recalling that "important stories are never told by a single character. They are always choral. And this federation is too."
Carlo D’Ursi is an audiovisual producer, winner of the 2026 Crystal Bear and the Jury Prize at Berlinale generation for the feature film Chicas Tristes and winner of the 2026 Goya Award for Best Documentary Short Film for The Saint, member of the Board of Directors of the Film Academy and has more than two decades of experience in the European audiovisual sector.
