More agile and flexible production: the operational leap of CS Live with Riedel
The Czech producer CS Live equips your new mobile unit with an integrated infrastructure of Riedel which combines the MediorNet multimedia network, the HI Human Interface control system and the Artist intercom with Bolero wireless communications.
Pavel Braun, CEO of CS Live, highlights that "the implementation of hi in this mobile unit is a big step forward for our production workflows. It allows us to manage routing, production switches, audio consoles and other systems from a single interface, and even operate the system from a tablet when necessary. That centralized control gives us the flexibility and speed we need for demanding sports productions."
The mobile unit's signal backbone is based on 12 MediorNet MicroN UHD nodes, with seven dedicated to signal routing and five configured as multiviewers. The distributed architecture allows transport, process and monitor signals directly within the network, while maintaining the flexibility required for modern OB production environments. CS Live also uses two MicroN Standard nodes as external stageboxes to link signals from stadiums, studios or other mobile units, allowing SDI, MADI and Ethernet transport over a single fiber connection.
In the CS live mobile unit, hi integrates and controls broadcast equipment from multiple manufacturers, including third-party audio consoles, production switchers, playback servers, monitoring systems, facility GPI triggers and broadcast lights. The implementation includes five panels hiPush18, a panel hiPush32 Shading, one hiPush36 panel and three panels hiContact, along with tablet-based control for greater operational flexibility.
Tomas Vesely, CEO of Smart Informatics, states that "this project marks the first implementation of Riedel's HI Human Interface control system in the Czech Republic. We have been collaborating with Riedel for many years, and that close cooperation was key to incorporating hi into this mobile unit environment. Together with CS live and Riedel, we have been able to successfully introduce the system and offer a highly integrated, vendor-independent control platform for the mobile unit."
Communications
Communications within the mobile relay unit are managed through the Artist intercom of Riedel, built around an ecosystem Artist-1024 con 17 SmartPanels RSP-1216HL, three SmartPanels RSP-1232HL and two desktop SmartPanels DSP-2312. Wireless communication is provided by the system Bolero from Riedel, which uses four antennas and 12 belt transceivers to ensure reliable coverage at all production positions.
“MediorNet provides the distributed media backbone, Artist provides reliable communications, and HI adds the operational control layer,” he emphasizes. Ismet Bozkurt, regional sales director at Riedel Communications. "Together, these systems allow customers to manage complex multi-vendor production environments through intuitive interfaces, while maintaining the flexibility of a decentralized signal network. At the same time, MediorNet allows them to support their current baseband workflows, while offering a clear path to IP-based production in the future."
