Avid ProTools Immersive Audio 2026.4

New features such as the Track Pin navigation tool and support for the MPEG-H immersive audio format lead the wave of new features in version 2026.4 of Pro Tools, audio production and post-production software from Avid.

Track Pin responds to the increasing complexity of managing sessions with hundreds of tracks, allowing users to pin some of the most important ones in a defined place within the editing window so that they remain visible throughout the session. In this way, you can easily access elements such as main voices or dialogues, which eliminates unnecessary scrolling and allows for “faster, more efficient” editing and mixing.

From the perspective of artificial intelligence, Pro Tools 2026.4 improves your capabilities speech to text conversion. Through this update, transcription data is now automatically transferred to newly rendered files when users perform rendering operations such as AudioSuite, Commit, Consolidate and exporting .ptxm session files compatible with Media Composer. The latest version of Pro Tools can also perform Clip selections on the timeline by word, phrase, or speaker; choose which tracks the transcription tracks are displayed on, and select CPU or GPU processing for transcript analysis.

In the latest version of the software Avid, editors can now create flexible immersive audio experiences and based on objects directly within Pro Tools using MPEG-H, a rapidly growing broadcasting standard adopted in major global markets, including South America and Asia. To encourage its adoption, the plugin MPEG-H Renderer of Fraunhofer IIS for monitoring and distribution, is included at no additional cost for Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate customers.

On the other hand, to facilitate monitoring of immersive mixes, Pro Tools 2026.4 introduce Dolby Headphone Personalization for workflows Dolby Atmos, allowing for more accurate mixing in headphones. Through a head-related transfer function “Measured to measure,” creators can generate a personalized listening profile that improves spatial accuracy. Users can shape their ears and head using their smartphone cameras and the Free SoundID Tools mobile app from Sonarworks, and load the profile directly into Pro Tools.

Other news from Pro Tools 2026.4 are the inclusion of the synth engine Massive X Player of Native Instruments; the expansion pack Pro Tools Massive X Essentials for all users, or the arrival of packages Lo-fi & Chill Plucks y Haze from Native Instruments for active subscribers and perpetual licensees.
