PROA elects Valérie Delpierre as new president to strengthen its national and international projection
The Federation of Audiovisual Production Companies (BOW) renews its board of directors with the election of Valérie Delpierre (Start Films) as the new president replacing Ferran Cera.
The executive producer of Inicia Films assumes the leadership of the entity with the objective of provide continuity to the main strategic lines developed by the outgoing board, and reinforce the positioning of the federation in the main debate and decision forums of the audiovisual industry.
Delpierre heads Inicia Films, a production company founded in 2006 specializing in fiction, documentary and animation projects. The company has built a career marked by its commitment to new cinematographic talents and by a notable presence in national and international competitions, accumulating recognition at events such as the Berlinale, the San Sebastián International Film Festival, the Malaga Festival, the Goya Awards and the Gaudí Awards.
In addition to his production experience, the new president of PROA has a extensive institutional links to the audiovisual sector. He is currently part of the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences and was a member of the board of directors of the European Film Academy between 2019 and 2020.
The candidacy led by Delpierre proposes a strategy of continuity with respect to the previous mandate, with special emphasis on increasing PROA's presence in those national and international spaces where trends and decisions with the greatest media and industrial impact are defined. The objective is consolidate the federation as a relevant interlocutor and recognized in the processes of representation, debate and decision-making that affect the entire audiovisual sector.
Internally, the new stage is committed to strengthen plural representation that reflects the transversal nature of PROA. The roadmap presented by Delpierre seeks to preserve the identity and uniqueness of the associations that make up the federation, while promoting a common strategy capable of responding to the challenges shared by production companies in an increasingly competitive and internationalized audiovisual environment.
With this change in the presidency, PROA begins a new phase aimed at strengthening its capacity for institutional influence and its role as a platform for the representation of independent audiovisual production in Catalonia and in the main stages of the European industry.
