Swing Musica 2.0: Argentina launches studio for film and television

The Argentine composers and producers Andrés Goldstein and Daniel Tarrab entrust to WSDG the acoustic and technical design of Swing Music 2.0, an environment created to address the main challenges of contemporary composition for film, television and multimedia content.

Designed as two distinct but interconnected creative environments, Swing Music 2.0 reflects the Individual workflows and artistic personalities of its owners, while maintaining a coherent production identity. The studios support the full spectrum of modern soundtrack production, from composition and programming to recording, editing, mixing and remote collaboration.

"Over the years, our way of working has evolved enormously. We needed spaces capable of supporting very extensive creative sessions, allowing us to move quickly between different stages of production and, at the same time, being inspiring and comfortable every day. WSDG understood this immediately and translated it into rooms that truly support the creative process," says the man himself. Goldstein.

Currently, Swing Musica 2.0 functions as a hub for flexible production and future-proofed, supporting the growing workload of Goldstein y Raise in film, television and multimedia projects. Throughout their careers, both composers have participated in numerous internationally recognized productions, including Some Who Lived, directed by Luis Puenzo and produced by Steven Spielberg; XX, by Lucía Puenzo, presented at the Cannes Festival in 2007; Inheritance, Emmy winner and directed by James Moll; Nobody saw us leave the Netflix; The Pack from Prime Video, and Miss 89 for StarzPlay.

A hybrid approach to composing and recording

Located in Buenos Aires, the project was developed around the increasingly hybrid nature of modern music production. Among the services of WSDG Acoustic design, technology integration, workflow planning, lighting design, and technical interior design were included for both studios, differentiated according to Goldstein and Tarrab's preferences.

“Each of us has a very personal relationship with sound, instruments and workflow,” he explains. Raise, who highlights that what he valued most about the integrator was that "they never approached the project with a 'one solution for all' mentality. They listened carefully to how we create music in practice and designed the spaces around that reality."

Goldstein's study Swing Godoy Cruz, is focused on a hybrid workflow for music composition and features a main Mac system along with a dedicated Mac for sound libraries, a Smart TV for image reference, monitoring Genelec 8331A, interface Focusrite Scarlett fourth generation compressor Avalon, control surface Studiologic, keyboard controller, headphone layout Beyer, and microphones AKG 414 y Neumann.

For its part, Swing Control Z Studio, from Tarrab, combines digital production tools with an extensive collection of analogue instruments and equipment. The studio incorporates a Hackintosh main computer, a secondary PC, StudioLogic SL88-Grand, Studiologic SL Mixface, preamplificador Avalon AD2022, interface SSL 2+, monitoring Genelec 8040A, microphones AKG 414 y Neumann U87, además de una cuidada colección de instrumentos que incluye un piano Steinway & Sons Vertegrand de 1905, un Yamaha CP70, a Fender Jazz Bass and several Epiphone guitars.

WSDG focused on balancing the acoustic precision with musicality and comfort, seeking for both spaces to function as highly technical production environments without losing their intimate and creative character.
