At Broadcast'09, Eurocom presents the new Cougar and 3Gen Ocelot for sizes 16×16 and 32×32 from its represented Pesa Swtiching (Qustream) and announces the results of some of its latest projects such as Telecinco's contribution and distribution network or Telefónica's IP transmission platform.

Stand de Eurocom en Broadcast'09

At its stand at Broadcast'09, Eurocom shows the new 16×16 and 32×32 Cougar and 3Gen Cocelot matrices from its represented Pesa Switching (Qustream). The Cougar 3Gen is a medium-sized matrix that has replaced the popular Cougar SD, widely used in facilities around the world. It is a rack unit that offers support for all SMPTE standards with rates from 143Mbps to 3 Gbps with auto-equalization on all inputs and reclocking on the outputs. Either system supports current 3500 or PERC2000 controllers along with a wide range of remote panels. Cougar 3Gen offers the possibility of having redundancy in both controllers and power supplies.

Redes IPTV

Coinciding with its presence at Broadcast'09, Eurocom Broadcast has announced the results of some of its latest projects such as the contribution and distribution network of Telecinco and Antena 3 (the latter still in progress) or the TVE fiber network that is now being concluded. But perhaps one of the most interesting projects is the one that Eurocom carries out with Telefónica as a partner in its IPTV header (Imagenio). Eurocom has integrated the entire coding and multiplexing system based on Grass Valley MPEG SD ViBE EM2000 encoders. The EM 2000, based on Grass Valley's advanced Mustang compression engineering, uses powerful processing to deliver standard definition MPEG-4 signals with reduced bandwidth and superior image quality. These encoders significantly reduce the required bandwidth, offering video with quality similar to currently existing solutions. This allows IPTV operators that offer individual stream services to create a greater number of circuits, reaching more homes with a total optimization of the available bandwidth.

Eurocom and Grass Valley were already suppliers to Imagenio-Telefónica's ITV header in a turnkey project developed in 2006. Now, the Spanish operators have once again trusted both to update.
