The executive director of the state television station, Mauro Valdés, together with numerous political authorities headed by the Minister Secretary General of Government, Ena von Baer, and the president of the Board of Directors, Leonidas Montes, inaugurated a few days ago the new TVN Red Biobío building in the commune of Talcahuano.
After the ribbon cutting, attendees were able to tour the new and modern facilities that have 6 offices, a meeting room, a newsroom, a kitchen-dining room, a lounge, an equipment storage room, parking spaces and access for the disabled.
The new facilities located on a 2,500-meter plot of land in the Las Brisas sector of Talcahuano, has a modern 70 m² studio.
Televisión Nacional de Chile Red Biobío is one of the regional affiliates of the state channel Televisión Nacional de Chile, which broadcasts only within the Eighth Region of Biobío. Its headquarters until now were located in the University Neighborhood of the city of Concepción, capital of the region.
In the mid and late 2000s, TVN Red Biobío carried out a complete renovation of its equipment, digitizing all of it. Likewise, in September 2007, Televisión Nacional de Chile announced a public competition to design the new corporate buildings for the channel's regional headquarters.
On October 2, 2009, the first stone of the new corporate building of TVN Red Biobío was laid, now inaugurated.
This is the first new headquarters considered in the strategic development plan of the nine regional centers that TVN has in the country, which considers resources of more than four billion pesos.
At the opening ceremony, the executive director of the public station, Mauro Valdés, highlighted that “this is a very important moment for the channel, since the great project of providing our regional centers with modern buildings with cutting-edge technology is beginning to materialize.”
He added that “TVN is the only channel in the country that has a network of regional news programs that also produce local programs and generate content for the national network.” This allows an important comparative advantage in the face of the challenges that digital terrestrial television poses and a complicity with local audiences.”
Mayor Lobos agreed with this assessment of the channel's work in the area, recognizing the contribution of the daily news programs and the programs La Entrevista del Sábado and Chile Conectado.
In this sense, he declared that "in this global world it is easy for us to know what is happening in very distant places because we are just a click away, but it also happens, curiously, that at the same time we know little about what is happening in our neighborhood, in our commune, in our region. Just as we connect with what is most geographically distant, we disconnect from what is closest. That is why I want to value the meaning of the deployment of TVN with its regional centers throughout the country because that effort, which today is reflected in this new building that "We are inaugurating, it clearly contributes to linking us with our local realities, with our problems and also with their solutions, helping to generate a sense of belonging that is and will always be necessary,"
