Juan José Guerenabarrena, acting director general of RTPA
The Board of Directors of the Public Communication Entity has unanimously appointed Juan José Guerenabarrena as acting general director until the General Board of the Principality elects the general director after the departure of José Ramón Pérez Ornia.
José Ramón Pérez Ornia, current general director of RTPA, notified the Board of Directors in this week's session of his resignation at his own request due to physical incapacity and the beginning of the retirement process. Pérez Ornia informed the Council that he is processing his reinstatement to the Complutense University, to whose body of professors he belongs.
Pérez Ornia was appointed general director of the Public Communication Entity by the Government Council of the Principality on January 19, 2005 and, subsequently, he was elected general director by the General Meeting of the Principality on June 6, 2008.
Both the dismissal of Pérez Ornia and the appointment of Juan José Guerenabarreana will take effect as of July 1.
Juan José Guerenabarrena has to date been director of Antena and Content for both radio and television at RTPA, the Radiotelevision of the Principality of Asturias, and coordinator of the technical areas. During the first two years of TPA's existence, he was also director of Information Services. Guerenabarrena is a journalist (D.E.A. in Communication Sciences) and a graduate in Philosophy and Letters. Recently, he received the Talent Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATV).
Throughout his professional career, Juan José Guerenabarrena has been director and designer of laOtra, Telemadrid's second channel; deputy director of the information program La via Navarro, on Vía Digital; director of the Puerta del Sol trends, design and performing arts program; director of the Open City cultural program; and director and presenter of the radio program The metaphysics covered in poppies, on Onda Madrid. Previously, he was editor, editor and presenter of the Telenoticias spaces on Telemadrid for nine years.
Guerenabarrena has also worked as editor and editor of the magazine El Público; editor of the culture section of Época magazine; and editor and presenter of the program Cremallera, on TVE in the early eighties. In addition, he has published in Diario-16, Primer Acto, Dansa 79, La Razón, Théâtre de l’Europe, El Cultural, and Cuento y Razón.
