José Garasino replaces Campoy as general director of the Film Academy
The Board of Directors of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain, in its last meeting, approved the unanimous decision of the commission designated to select the new general director of the institution. This is José Garasino, until now director of activities at the Media Business School.
Garasino (Paris, 1964) began working in cinema at the age of 18 as an assistant director, combining this activity with his university studies. Since then it has
held almost all positions in the management and production departments. He finished this stage specializing as an executive producer for one of the leading companies in the sector at that time and as an independent producer with his own company.
He has worked with directors such as Carlos Saura, Jaime Chávarri, Vicente Aranda, Fernando Trueba, Luis Llosa, Francisco J. Lombardi and Fernando Colomo, and has participated in projects such as Torrente 2, The apple of my eye, Soldiers of Salamis o dance steps.
Later he entered the field of training, always within the audiovisual and cinematographic area in Europe, especially in the audiovisual sector.

On March 14, José Garasino will replace Eduardo Campoy, who held the position on an interim basis since the appointment of the previous general director, Car los Cuadros, at the head of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).
