NEP Broadcasting aired the Grammy ceremony with two mobile units with Grass Valley's Kalypso console and a Trinix HD-SDI matrix at the heart of the display.

Live production technologies Grass Valley have been essential in the broadcast of this year's Grammy Awards, which took place this Sunday and were produced live in 1080i high definition format by the veteran mobile production company NEP Broadcasting for CBS and the E! Entertainment Television.

NEP Broadcasting, based in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, has been working with Grass Valley technologies for many years to bring all the performances and splendor of the world-renowned Grammy Awards to viewers' homes.

NEP's mobile unit, a Denali Summit HD, was on location to manage the broadcast of the main awards on CBS, while its ND4 was used to cover the event's red carpet space for E! Entertainment Television.

The two units featured Grass Valley's Kalypso HD production desk, along with a Trinix HD-SDI matrix (192x160 and 160x128, respectively) and a variety of signal processing modules from Grass Valley's GeckoFlex product line to switch and manage dozens of cameras and other inputs that make up the Grammy Awards broadcast.
