Kantipur TV becomes the first television in Nepal with a 100% tapeless system thanks to VSN

Kantipur TV, el principal canal privado de TV en Nepal ha seleccionado la tecnología de VSN para la renovación completa a tapeless de sus sistemas junto a una mejora la calidad de sus gráficos, mayor eficiencia y ahorro en costes, y actualización a HD de sus dos canales SD.

Kantipur Tv, el principal broadcaster privado nepalí que emite desde 2003 cubriendo el subcontinente indio, área del Pacífico y Norteamérica, se ha convertido en el primer canal de TV en Nepal que opera en un entorno totalmente libre de cintas.

Among other requirements of this project, Kantipur TV needed a system to improve the quality of its graphics, a redefinition of its workflow for efficiency and cost savings, and the upgrade of its two SD channels to HD. Thanks to the solution of VSN, Kantipur TV was able to achieve its goals with reliable and cost-effective technology.

The solution provided by VSN includes an ingestion system (VSNAutorec) with four simultaneous channels and VSNSharer, which allows access to shared storage and archiving. The VSNNews news system includes a redundant playout, twenty journalist positions and ten post-production positions that integrate different non-linear editors (Vegas, Premiere and FCP) into a single system. VSNIPTransfer allows the sending of material from displaced reporters and the broadcasting of live events in high quality, using mobile IP networks. They also have a multi-camera and sensorless (trackless) VSNFreemove virtual set system.

The channel manages its branding through the use of three VSNCG+ advanced graphics stations. Finally, a VSNLegalrec legal copy system has also been added to the installation.

The installation has been developed by VSN in collaboration with its local partner in Nepal Soheto. The Kantipur TV engineering team highlights the technical quality of the solution provided, the degree of redundancy and the flexibility of VSN solutions.

Kantipur TV produces national and international news, talk and entertainment programmes. It aims to provide the Nepali perspective in a changing environment through information and entertainment.
