Chilean channels base their operation in London 2012 on EVS XT3 servers
Canal 13 and TVN needed a reliable and robust broadcast system that could easily be integrated with their Avid systems. After extensive testing in Santiago, both companies decided to deploy six-channel EVS XT3 servers, along with its application suite, IPDirector, for content management and control, and XTAccess software.
Two Chilean channels, Canal 13 and TVN, have opted for EVS for coverage of London 2012. With an important focus on sports programming, Channel 13 decided to renew its collaboration with EVS after the success of the operation carried out in Beijing.
National Television of Chile, TVN, has chosen to implement EVS solutions for the first time in a major sporting event. These solutions will be used in carrying out a varied programming, but are currently focusing on the information coverage of the most important competitions in London 2012.
Both South American broadcasters needed a reliable and robust broadcast system that could easily integrate with their Avid systems. Channel 13 also needed to integrate this solution with the media server of the event organization. After extensive testing in Santiago, both companies decided to deploy six-channel EVS XT3 servers, along with its application suite, IPDirector, for content management and control, and XTAccess software for material exchanges between EVS production servers and third-party tools.
Benjamin Mariage, sales manager for Latin America at EVS, has been very pleased to "be playing a fundamental role, providing solutions and support to South American broadcasters, in the coverage of these major sporting events. We strive to offer the fastest and most reliable technology on the market, and our growing list of clients assures us that we are responding to the needs of the industry."
Canal 13 chose EVS solutions as its primary broadcast system based on its ability to integrate with its tapeless workflow. An XT3 server has been implemented with four recording channels and two for broadcasting. With native support for a wide range of codecs, the XT3 uses AVC-Intra as the primary codec and integrates XDCAM-based workflows. One IPDirector suite is used for cataloging, searching and reproducing material, while a second is used to search for content stored on the event organization's media server. The control panel, EVS's MulticamLSM, is used for live editing operations, while XTAccess supports material exchange between the XT3 and Avid editing and storage systems.
The XT3 is the industry's first server to natively support a wide range of codecs without requiring hardware changes. In combination with the IPDirector suite, it guarantees the ingestion stage and allows Canal 13 and TVN to control the recording and dispatch of the material regardless of where it comes from, whether from multiple cameras, from satellite or from any other video recording system.
