News Corp takes control of Sky Deutschland

Communication magnate Rupert Murdoch has spent almost 400 million euros to acquire the majority of the German payment platform Sky Deutschland.

Starting from an initial 15%, since 2008 News Corp has been systematically investing in the platform until taking control with 54.5% of the shares.

Owner of the rights to the German Bundesliga football league, Sky has secured this important asset for the next three seasons for almost 2 billion euros, thanks to an agreement with the operator Deutsche Telekom.

After learning of the expansion of News Corp's participation, Brian Sullivan, president of Sky, commented that "our new long-term financial structure allows us to continue developing the company and implement our strategy."
